Midwest Region States

Heartland Horizons and Small-Town Soul

The Midwest is America in its purest form — wide skies, open roads, and towns that wear their stories with quiet pride. From Chicago’s shimmering skyline on Lake Michigan to the storybook streets of Michigan’s Mackinac Island, from Wisconsin’s rolling farmlands to Missouri’s riverfront jazz, this region is proof that beauty doesn’t need hype — just good light and genuine people. Our Midwest Destinations celebrate the rhythm of everyday America: covered bridges at dawn, county fairs glowing under summer nights, and the kind of smiles that still feel like home. It’s not flyover country — it’s pull-over-and-shoot country.

Lens & Latitude – Chasing Peaks at Mount Rainier

Behind the Lens

I’m Steve—a retired Army vet who traded ruck sacks for camera bags and now chases light across every latitude I can reach. From 110 point & shoot film camera beginnings to a Canon R5 Mark II and Mavic Pro II drone, I’ve logged shots in 36 countries and all 50 states, squeezing solo photo runs between corporate flights and longer adventures with my wife. Shutter Nomadica is where I share the hits, misses, and field notes so fellow roamers can skip the guesswork and grab the shot!
